The Government of Lithuania has announced the annual dates of official non-working public holidays and bank holidays in Lithuania for the upcoming calendar year 2020.

The aforementioned list public holidays and bank holidays in Lithuania for the upcoming calendar year 2020 includes a new annual Lithuanian public holiday, on November 2, All Souls' Day. Late last spring (2019-06-14), we had reported that members of the Lithuanian Seimas (parliament) had introduced a bill to declare a new annual non-working public holiday in Lithuania on November 2, for All Souls' Day.

The practice of declaring bridge public holidays, compensated by working Saturdays, begun in 2005 (2005-10-17 and 2009-12-28), barely maintained 9 years ago (2010-12-29), and not applied for the 7 subsequent years (2018-01-10, 2017-01-07, 2015-12-20, 2015-01-05, 2014-01-10, 2013-01-08 and 2012-01-04), seems to have been abandoned for good.

The aforementioned announcement confirms the 2010 declaration of December 24, Christmas Eve, as a new annual public holiday in Lithuania (2010-12-13).
