Moldova Confirms June 8 Public Holiday

The Moldovan Public Services Agency has issued a communique confirming that Monday, June 8, 2020, would remain a one-off public holiday in Moldova, to compensate the postponed Easter public holiday ("Agenția Servicii Publice informează solicitanții de servicii că potrivit Dispoziției Comisiei pentru Situații Excepționale a Republicii Moldova nr.17 din 13 aprilie 2020, ziua de luni, 08 iunie curent este declarată zi de odihnă").

Today's announcement dispels the confusion, based on the fact that the International Children's Day public holiday of Moldova (2018-05-16, 2017-05-24, 2016-05-30 and 2016-05-27) was not declared a public holiday in 2020 (2020-05-28), due to the string of Covid19 public holidays in Moldova in the spring of 2020 (2020-04-13, 2020-04-06, 2020-04-14 and 2020-04-25).

Recall that, last April (2020-04-13), Moldova's Cabinet postponed the April 27, 2020, Easter Monday public holiday of Moldova, to Monday, June 8, 2020, the date of the Blajinilor Passover, due to the current coronavirus pandemic ("The day of Monday, April 27, will be declared a working day, this is the case if the Exceptional Situations Commission will not extend the quarantine regime for those days as well"), thus amending the list of 2020 annual non-working public holidays in Moldova, as announced, late last year (2019-12-17 and 2019-12-03).
