Nicaragua's Vice-President, Rosario Murillo, has announced that Nicaragua's Labour Minister had declared that Monday, July 20, 2020, would be a non-working public holiday in Nicaragua to mark the anniversary of the Sandanista revolution ("la ministra está haciendo circular esta comunicación autorizada por nuestro presidente para que las y los trabajadores tengamos el día 20 como día de descanso y con goce de salario").

The aforementioned announcement confirms that the declaration of a public holiday on Monday, July 20, 2020, is due to the annual, July 19, public holiday, falling on a Sunday in 2020 ("de conformidad al artículo 66 del código del trabajo establece que cayendo el feriado nacional 19 de julio en día domingo, el día lunes se toma como día de descanso con goce de salario para reponer el feriado que cae en domingo que tradicionalmente, que siempre es feriado de descanso obligatorio").

In the past, a one-off, non-working public holiday had often been adjoined, before or after, the annual, July 19, public holiday of Nicaragua (2016-07-12, 2015-07-14, 2012-07-14, 2010-07-09 and 2009-07-15), though not systematically (2017-07-10, 2014-07-15 and 2013-07-13), and almost never for the private sector.
