Nigerian 60th Independence Anniversary Public Holiday

The Minister of Interior of Nigeria, Rauf Aregbesola, has announced the declaration of Thursday, October 1, 2020, as a public holiday to commemorate Nigeria’s 60th Independence Anniversary.

The aforementioned declaration of Thursday, October 1, 2020, as a non-working public holiday throughout Nigeria is contained in a statement entitled "FG Declares Thursday, October 1, 2020, Public Holiday To Mark Nigeria’s 60th Independence Anniversary", signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Georgina Ehuriah.

The declaration of Thursday, October 1, 2020, as a public holiday throughout Nigeria, did not require the declaration of a day in lieu public holiday as in some past years (2017-09-27, 2016-09-29, 2015-09-28, 2014-09-25, 2013-09-24, 2012-09-28, 2011-09-26 and 2010-09-23).
