Following the death of Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Oman's Sultan, Haitham Bin Tarik, has declared a state of mourning and 3 days of non-working public holidays in both the public and private sectors, from Tuesday to Thursday, September 29 to October 1, 2020, with all sector's of Oman's economy returning after the Omani weekend ("Work will resume from Sunday 04 October 2020").
As the government of Yemen changed its weekends from Thursday/Friday to Friday/Saturday (2013-07-28 and 2012-01-09), the aforementioned declaration of Tuesday to Thursday, September 29 to October 1, 2020, as public holidays in Oman, means effective Omani public holidays until Saturday, October 3, 2020, inclusively.
Earlier this year (2020-01-11), on the occasion of the death of the Sultan of Oman, Sultan Qaboos, Kuwait's then Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, had declared 3 consecutive days of public sector holidays in Kuwait, from January 11-13, 2020, and the aforementioned announcement is Oman's way of reciprocating.
