The federal government of Pakistan has announced that the upcoming Eid Milad-un-Nabi public holiday marking the Prophet's Birthday would be be observed as a nationwide public holiday on Friday, October 30, 2020 ("on October 30, 2020, Eid Milad-un-Nabi will be a public holiday across the country").

Today's announcement confirms the date announced, earlier this month (2020-10-18), by the Chairman of Pakistan's Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Mufti Muneebur Rehman, who had announced that the Rabi-ul-Awwal Moon had not been sighted on October 17, and therefore that the upcoming Eid Miladun Nabi annual public holiday of Pakistan, commemorating the Prophet's Birthday, would be celebrated on Friday, October 30, 2020, a date that thus amends the list of 2020 public holidays in Pakistan, previously announced in the "expected dates for public and optional holidays for the calendar year 2020" published by the Government of Pakistan, late last year (2019-12-06).
