Pakistan Extends 2020 Eid-ul-Fitr Public Holidays

Source: Pakistan's Ministry of Interior (Islamabad)

The Federal Government of Pakistan has amended the dates for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr (End of Ramadan) public holidays throughout Pakistan for the calendar year 2020, by expanding these annual Pakistani public holidays to last 6 days ("there will be public holidays in the country from May 22 to May 27 on account of Eidul Fitr").

The aforementioned announcement is longer than what was announced in the "Public and Optional Holidays for the calendar year, 2020" issued by Pakistan's Ministry of Interior, earlier this year (2019-12-06).

As happened in some past years (2019-05-28, 2018-06-09, 2017-06-07, 2016-06-27, 2015-07-07, 2015-01-12, 2013-07-31 and 2012-08-09), but not all (2011-08-25 and 2010-09-05), the Government of Pakistan extended the duration of the upcoming 2020 Eid-ul-Fitr (End of Ramadan) public holidays in Pakistan for both the private and public sectors ("All businesses, public places, community markets, shops, etc will remain closed").
