The UAE government cabinet, at a meeting chaired by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has announced the list of national public holidays for both the public and private sector for the calendar years 2021 and 2022.

In past years (2018-01-08, 2017-01-03, 2015-12-26, 2015-01-04, 2014-01-07 and 2012-12-29), the list of public holidays in the UAE was announced annually, in an ad hoc manner, and with marked differences between the UAE private and public sector holidays.

However, last year (2019-03-05 and 2019-09-08), the UAE government announced a list of expected non-working public holidays in the UAE for the calendar years 2019 and 2020, which brought the number of public holidays enjoyed by the UAE private sector in line with the number of public holidays enjoyed by the UAE public sector.
