Venezuela's president, Nicolás Maduro, has issued a decree declaring Friday, February 21, 2020, as a one-off additional non-working public holiday in Venezuela on account of the upcoming Carnival, leading to a 5-day long period of Carnival public holidays in Venezuela, from February 21-25, 2020, inclusively.

The aforementioned declaration of Friday, February 21, 2020, as a one-off additional non-working public holiday in Venezuela on account of the upcoming Carnival, thus amends the official list of the dates for the 2020 public holidays and banking holidays in Venezuela as announced last summer by the Sudeban (2019-09-08) in conformity with the "Ley de Reforma Parcial de la Ley de Instituciones del Sector Bancario".

Recall that, last year (2019-02-21), president Maduro had similarly issued a decree declaring Thursday February 28, and Friday, March 1, 2019, as one-off additional non-working public holidays in Venezuela on account of the upcoming Carnival, thus leading to a 6-day long period of Carnival public holidays in Venezuela, from February 28 until March 5, 2019, inclusively.
