Algeria Declares 2022 Western New Year Public Holiday

The Algerian Direction générale de la Fonction publique et de la Réforme administrative et du ministère du Travail, de l’Emploi et de la Sécurité sociale has announced that Saturday, January 1, 2022, had been declared as a non-working public holiday in Algeria ("journée chômée et payée") on account of the upcoming Western New Year of the upcoming calendar year 2022.

As usual (2019-12-26, 2017-12-27 and 2016-12-27), the declaration of Saturday, January 1, 2022, as a non-working public holiday in Algeria applies, to both the private and public sector ("Cette journée sera chômée et payée pour l'ensemble des personnels des institutions et administrations publiques, des établissements et offices publics et privés, ainsi que pour les personnels des entreprises publiques et privées, tous secteurs et statuts juridiques confondus, y compris les personnels payés à l'heure ou à la journée.").

The aforementioned announcement was made in line with the "loi 63-278 du 26 juillet 1963, modifiée et complétée, fixant la liste des fêtes légales" which regulates the occurence of public holidays in Algeria.
