At today's plenary session of the Azerbaijani Parliament (Milli Majlis), the has approved the Law On Independence Day in its third and final reading.
The bill "on Independence Day", whereby the May 28, Republic Day public holiday, would be renamed as Independence Day, while the annual Day of State Independence working holiday would be renamed as the Day of Restoration of Independence, was rushed through the Milli Majlis, earlier this month (2021-10-06).
The aforementioned changes do not affect the list of 2021 public holidays in Azerbaijan, published late last year (2020-12-18), nor would they affect future years' lists of public holidays, apart from a name change for the May 28 annual public holiday.
