Bangladesh's National Moon Sighting Committee has announced that it had not been able to sight the Muharram New Moon crescent, last night, and, therefore, that the month of Muharram would begin on August 11, 2021.
The month of Muharram beginning on August 11, 2021, means that the upcoming Ashura and related annual non-working public holiday of Bangladesh, will be observed across the country on Friday, August 20, 2021.
The aforementioned announcement is in line with the date announced in the list of non-working public holidays in Bangladesh in 2021, which was released last fall by the Ministry of Public Administration, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh (2020-11-27 and 2020-11-02).
