The Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs of the Government of Bhutan has released its annual official list of national and regional non-working public holidays in Bhutan for the Year of the Water Male Tiger, running from the Losar Lunar New Year public holiday of Bhutan in 2022, until the Losar public holiday of 2023.

The announced list of 2022-2023 public holidays in Bhutan, signed by the Secretary to the Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs, Kado Zangpo, confirms, again, the re-instatement of the Thrue Bab (Blessed Rainy Day) national public holiday (2009-09-16), and specifies that "Tshechu holidays for respective Dzongkhags will be confirmed by respective Dzongkhag Administration." (2020-11-15, 2019-11-06, 2018-10-15, 2017-11-05, 2016-10-28, 2015-10-01, 2014-10-24, 2013-11-15, 2012-10-12, 2012-01-04, 2010-11-05 and 2010-01-13).

The annual public holiday for Blessed Rainy Day had been canceled over a decade ago, at the same time as the cancellation of the Ngenpa Guzom (Meeting of the Nine Evils) public holiday, and the annual public holiday for the anniversary of the death of the third Druk Gyalpo, His Majesty the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck (2007-01-03).

The list of 2022-2023 public holidays in Bhutan also re-confirms the move of the March 20 Gross National Happiness non-working public holiday, from it original date of March 20 (2014-01-30, 2013-03-15 and 2012-07-06).

As always, the list of 2022 public holidays may yet be amended by the Government of Bhutan, as was done in 2021 (2021-04-26 and 2020-12-31).
