Bolivia's Minister of Labor, Verónica Navia, has announced that, despite calls to cancel the upcoming Carnival public holidays, due to the current pandemic, she could not cancel it as the Carnival public holidays of Bolivia are enshrined in the Decreto Supremo N° 2750 del 1 de mayo de 2016.

Minister Navia's statement that "Nosotros, como ministerio, no podíamos no declararlo (el feriado), porque estaríamos incumpliendo la vigencia de un decreto" refers to the text of the Decreto Supremo N° 2750 which states that "El lunes 15 y el martes 16 de febrero de la presente gestión, se constituyen en feriados nacionales con suspensión de actividades públicas y privadas en todo el territorio del Estado Plurinacional de Bolivia", and is in line with the recently-announced list of 2021 public holidays in Bolivia (2021-01-10).
