Chandigarh Declares Guru Teg Bahadur Public Holiday December 8

The Government of India's Union Territory of Chandigarh has released the vide notification No.6/1/1-1H(I)-2021/18134 which declares Wednesday, December 8, 2021, as a public holiday in the Union Territory of Chandigarh, on account of the martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur.

The list of 2021 Chandigarh public holidays was announced by the Government of India's Union Territory of Chandigarh, late last year (2020-12-18), in the Government Notification No. 6/l/l-IH(I)-2020/13639 ("List of Holidays in all Government Offices under the Chandigarh Administration, during the calendar year 2021").

In the Government Notification No. 6/l/l-IH(I)-2020/13639, there is a mention of the December 8 martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur, but only as a restricted holiday.

The promotion of Wednesday, December 8, 2021, as a public holiday on account of the martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur, issued by the Union Territory Home Secretary, Kumar Yadav, thus further amends, the list of 2021 Chandigarh public holidays (2021-08-18, 2021-06-23, 2021-06-12, 2021-04-08 and 2021-02-25).
