The President of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, has issued the Decreto 222 which declares Wednesday, November 3, 2021, as a one-off public holiday to extend the Independencia de Cuenca and Día de los Difuntos public holidays for 5 days.

The declaration of October 30 To November 3, 2021, as public holidays, thus amends the list of 2021 public holidays (2020-11-16).

In the public sector, the additional public holiday, on November 3, will be compensated by an additional hour of work during the 8 subsequent working days ("La jornada de trabajo suspendida correspondiente al día 3 de noviembre del 2021, será recuperada en el sector público, a través de una hora adicional diaria durante los ocho días laborables subsiguientes").
