Due to all the upcoming year-end public holidays falling on a weekend, the Fiji Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Youth and Sports, Parveen Kumar, has issued a statement clarifying the dates in December 2021 and January 2022 which will be public holidays, and the ones which be regular weekend days.

Employment Minister Kumar clarified the public holiday status of December 25, 26, 27, 28 and January 1 and 3 as follows: "Saturday the 25th of December is a normal day, and the public holiday for Christmas Day falls on Monday, the 27th of December", adding that "Sunday the 26th of December is also a normal day and therefore public holiday for Boxing Day falls on Tuesday, the 28th of December" and, finally, that "Saturday the 1st of January 2022 is a normal day, and the public holiday for New Year’s Day falls on Monday, the 3rd of January".

The aforementioned clarifications are in line with the previously-gazetted lists of 2021 Fiji public holidays (2020-10-26) and 2022 Fiji public holidays (2021-06-24).
