The President of the Gambia, Adama Barrow, has declared Saturday, May 1, 2021, as a non-working public holiday throughout Gambia.

The aforementioned announcement reads as follows: "The Office of the President wishes to inform the General Public that His Excellency President Adama Barrow, acting under section 76 of the 1997 Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia, is pleased to declare Saturday 1st May 2021 as a Public Holiday throughout The Gambia, in observance of International Workers’ Day".

Saturday, May 1, 2021, having been declared as a non-working public holiday throughout Gambia is in line with past years' announcements (2020-03-22, 2019-04-26, 2018-04-27, 2018-12-24, 2017-02-16, 2016-03-23, 2016-02-17, 2015-09-17, 2014-01-11, 2013-08-07, 2012-11-07, 2012-07-20, 2011-12-27, 2011-04-29, 2011-04-21 and 2011-02-17).
