At the request of the the Independent Electoral Commission of the Gambia, the President of the Gambia, Adama Barrow, has declared a public holidays on Saturday, December 4, 2021, on account of the upcoming general elections and "to allow all registered voters to vote in their respective constituencies".

Election-related public holidays are not uncommon in the Gambia (2018-05-10, 2018-04-10, 2011-11-21, 2011-11-24, 2006-12-18, 2006-12-01).
