The Guatemalan Government has released its annual list of official non-working public holidays in Guatemala for the calendar year 2022.
The Law of Internal Tourism, through the Decreto 19-2018, mandates that that the May 1st, June 30th and October 20th, annual public holidays should be moved to the working day immediately before or after the weekend, when falling on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays or Sundays.
However, the list of 2022 public holidays in Guatemala only contains one moved mid-week public holiday, due to a ruling by Guatemala's Constitutional Court removing the May 1st and October 20 public holidays from the scope of the 2018 Law of Internal Tourism (2020-04-16).
Prior to 2019, the lists of public holidays in Guatemala were based on the DECRETO NÚMERO 42-2010 ("Ley que promueve el Turismo Interno") (2010-11-16), passed in 2010 (2010-11-16 and 2009-01-21).
