In a decree released earlier today, the Bureau de la communication de la Primature has announced that Thursday and Friday, July 22-23, 2021, had been declared as non-working public holidays throughout Haiti as a prelude to the national funeral of President Jovenel Moïse on July 23 ("les jeudi 22 et vendredi 23 juillet 2021 sont déclarés fériés et chômés").
Recall that Tuesday February 7, 2017, had been declared as a non-working public holiday throughout Haiti to coincide with the inauguration of President Jovenel Moïse (2017-02-06).
Today's announcement specifies that "l’administration publique, le commerce, les industries, les écoles seront fermées durant ces deux (2) jours de congé".
