The private sector representative to Honduras' Mesa Multisectorial, Alden Rivera, has suggested postponing the upcoming Easter week public holidays, set to run from March 28 to April 3, 2021, to the end of 2021.
The aforementioned suggestion mirrors last year's decision by the Honduran government to postpone the 2020 Semana Morazánica public holidays.
Originally the 2020 Semana Morazánica public holidays were moved from their usual date in October to the first week of November 2020, as per the Decreto No.126-2020 (2020-09-17, 2020-09-12 and 2020-09-10).
The Semana Morazánica public holidays were then moved to the following week, November 11-14, 2020, due to the arrival of tropical storm Eta in Honduras (2020-11-02), before the National Congress of Honduras decided (2020-11-04) to leave it up the the executive branch to specify the new public holidays dates, at a later time.
Eventually (2020-12-17 and 2020-11-21), the Semana Morazánica public holidays were moved one last time to December 24, 30 and 30, 2020.
