The Government of India's Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has released the official list of non-working public holidays in Jammu and Kashmir for the upcoming calendar year 2022, in the Government Orders No. 1337-JK(GAD) of 2021 ("List of holidays for the calendar year-2022") and No. 1338-JK(GAD) of 2021 ("List of holidays for the calendar year-2022 under the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881").
The aforementioned Order No. 1337 and 1338, signed by order of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir by Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, once again drops 2 traditional public holidays of Jammu and Kashmir, Martyrs' Day on July 13 and the birth anniversary of Sheikh Abdullah on December 5, while maintaining the relatively new Accession Day public holiday on October 26.
Recall that, on October 31, 2019, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir was split into 2, as the new Union Territory of Ladakh was carved out of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, in a manner similar to the creation of Telangana as the 29th state of India on June 2, 2014, having itself been carved-out the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh (2015-05-31).
