The Government of India's Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has released the Government Order No.623-JK(GAD) of 2021 which moves the dates of the upcoming Urs Shah-i-Hamdan Sahib and Eid-ul-Azha public holidays in Jammu and Kashmir from their initially set respective dates of July 16 and July 20-21, to July 17 and July 21-22, 2021.
The relevant sections of the aforementioned Government Order No.623-JK(GAD) of 2021, signed by the Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, by order of the Lieutenant Governor, read as follows: "In partial modification of Government Order No. 1159-JK(GAD) of 2020 dated 24.12.2020 and Government Order No. 1160-JK(GAD) of 2020 dated 24.12.2020, it is hereby ordered that", "i. The provincial holiday (Kashmir Province) on account of Urs Shah-i-Hamdan Sahib shall now be observed on 17th July, 2021 (Saturday) instead of 16th July, 2021 (Friday)", and "ii. The holiday on account of Eid-ul-Azha shall now be observed on 21st and 22nd July, 2021 (Wednesday and Thursday) instead of 20th and 21st July, 2021 (Tuesday and Wednesday)".
The aforementioned change of dates of the upcoming Urs Shah-i-Hamdan Sahib and Eid-ul-Azha public holidays, thus further amends (2021-04-29 and 2021-03-04) the list of non-working public holidays in Jammu and Kashmir for the calendar year 2021, as released in the Government Order No. 1159-JK(GAD) of 2020 ("List of holidays for the calendar year-2021"), late last year (2020-12-25).
