The Kuwaiti Government Communication Center (CMC) has announced that, at today's Kuwaiti extraordinary cabinet meeting, a public holiday was declared for ministries and government agencies on Sunday, January 2, 2022, ("Sunday, January 2, will be a government holiday in all government departments as an alternative to Saturday, January 1").
Considering the annual, January 1st public holiday of Kuwait, and the Friday-Saturday weekend, this means 4 consecutive days of public holidays in Kuwait, from December 31, 2021, to January 2, 2022, inclusively.
Interestingly, the aforementioned Sunday, January 2, 2022, day in lieu public holiday was not listed in the recently-released list of "Tentative Kuwait Public Holidays in 2022" which was released by the Kuwaiti Ministry of information (2021-12-08).
Last year (2020-12-24), the Kuwaiti government had similarly declared Sunday, January 3, 2021, as a day in lieu substitute public holiday in Kuwait, due to January 1st, 2021, falling on a weekend day.
And, the year before that, the Kuwaiti government has also declared Thursday, January 2, 2020, as a one-off non-working public holiday in Kuwait, but that time because it fell between 2 public holidays (2019-12-07).
Recall that, since 2007 (2007-08-04), weekends in Kuwait are Friday and Saturday.
