Luxemburg 2022 Bank Holidays Announced

The Luxembourg Bankers' Association (Luxemburger Bankenvereinigung) has issued its annual list of official bank holidays in Luxembourg for the upcoming calendar year 2022.

As usual (2020-07-31, 2019-04-16, 2018-05-14, 2017-07-27, 2016-05-22, 2015-06-05, 2014-12-31, 2013-05-16, 2012-12-04 and 2011-12-27), the aforementioned announcement of the list of official bank holidays in Luxembourg for the upcoming calendar year 2022 is based on article 8. IV.A. b) of the "Collective Bargaining Agreement for Bank Employees", as well as with the recent declaration of May 9 as a new annual public holiday in Luxembourg (2019-03-19, 2019-01-11, 2018-12-12, 2018-11-30).

As usual, when the list of Luxemburg public holidays contains public holidays that fall on a Sunday, the aforementioned list of bank holidays in Luxembourg for the calendar year 2022 contains the footnote "The New Years' Day (1 January) falls on a Saturday, and the Labour Day (1 May) and the Christmas Day (25 December) fall on a Sunday. In such cases, the law stipulates that the employer must grant a compensatory day off within three months of the date of the public holiday (Art. L. 232-3 and Art. L. 232-6(2) of the Labour Code).".
