Maurtitania's President has issued a decree declaring Thursday and Friday, July 22-23, 2021, as a additional non-working public holidays in Mauritania, to link the upcoming July 21 El Id El Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) annual public holiday with the subsequent weekend.

As per the aforementioned announcement, "Les journées du jeudi 22 juillet 2021 et du vendredi 23 juillet 2021 sont déclarées journées fériées, chômées et payées sur l’ensemble du territoire national".

Recall that the date of Wednesday, July 21, 2021, was already listed as the El Id El Adha in the list of 2021 public holidays in Mauritania announced, late last year (2020-12-25).

The day after the El Id El Adha public holiday has often been declared a non-working public holiday in Mauritania, in the past (2019-08-09, 2017-09-02, 2016-09-09, 2016-07-06, 2014-10-03, 2014-07-28).

Today's extension to July 22-23, 2021, of the upcoming Feast of Sacrifice public holidays, thus means a 5-day stretch of public holidays, as Mauritania is back to Saturday/Sunday weekends, since 2014 (2014-09-12), after many back-and-forth changes (2007-12-13, 2005-03-08 and 2001-03-14).
