The Nepalese Ministry of Home Affairs has announced the publication, by the government of Nepal, in the Section 70) No. 47 Nepal Gazette Part 5 Date March 22, 2021, of the annual list of official non-working public holidays in Nepal for the Nepalese year B.S. 2078 (April 2021-April 2022).
The gazette publication of the list of Nepalese public holidays in the Nepalese year B.S. 2078 (April 2021-April 2022), begins with the following preamble: "This notice has been published as the Government of Nepal has decided the following with regards to public, festival, and in lieu holidays and office hours for all government offices and public entities for the duration of April 14, 2021 until April 13, 2022.".
As had been announced by the current Nepalese government, in recent months (2021-02-12 and 2021-02-09), the list of BS 2078 public holidays in Nepal contains the restoration of many of the public holidays that were canceled, or made sectorial, by the previous Oli-led government a few years ago (2018-03-31), when 12 public holidays were canceled and a further 10 were made sectorial.
Some special rules are listed for essential services: "Since offices and entities like hospitals, ropeway, telephone, police, immigration, police station and offices, Fire Brigade, Mint, Radio Nepal, Nepal Television, Department of Printing, Postal services that provide daily and emergency service including ministries, department and offices that have to conduct work even on public holidays, in lieu holidays as per the prevailing laws can be taken for working during public holidays in a way that it doesn’t hamper the daily work.".
