Nicaragua 2021-2022 Year-End Public Sector Holidays

Nicaragua's Minister of Labour, Alba Luz Torres, has announced that Nicaragua's Vice-President, Rosario Murillo, had declared extended public sector holidays in Nicaragua to last for 19 consecutive days.

As per the aforementioned announcement, "Workers at the service of the State and its institutions will start the vacation period on Friday, December 17, 2021 at the end of their working day, returning to their normal work on Wednesday, January 5, 2022.".

This announcement, based on Article 76 of Nicaragua's Labor Code, has become expected annually (2019-12-18, 2017-12-21, 2016-12-15, 2015-12-12, 2014-12-10, 2012-12-13, 2011-12-17, 2010-12-04, 2009-12-07, 2008-12-05, 2007-12-03, 2006-12-14, 2004-12-01, and 2001-12-05), although the original legislation only extends the public sector holidays in Nicaragua, centered around the Nicaraguan annual public holidays, from December 24, until January 1st.
