Nicaragua's vice president, Rosario Murillo, has issued a communiqué announcing August 1 and August 10, 2021, as public holidays with pay in Managua, the capital city of Nicaragua.
As per the aforementioned communiqué: "We have received from the Ministry of Labor its proposal for a communication that (president) Daniel supports that on August 1 and 10 in the employer celebrations of Managua, Santo Domingo de Guzmán, Patron Saint of the Managua".
Strangely enough, reports of the communiqué mention that "State workers will resume their work on Tuesday, August 3 and Wednesday, August 11, respectively" which would imply that a day in lieu, substitute public holiday had been declared for the August 1st public holiday falling on a Sunday.
But the declaration of a day in lieu public holiday, due to the fact that August 1st fell on a Saturday in 2020 had been ruled-out ("Primero de enero, Jueves y Viernes Santo, primero de mayo y 19 de julio, son los días feriados, entre otros, los feriados nacionales compensados por otro día. Por tanto los días 1 y 10 de agosto no gozan de este privilegio por ser días de asueto, celebrados únicamente a nivel de Managua"). Perhaps this is a cut/paste from last year when workers would have returned to work on Monday, August 3.
