Nicaragua's Ministerio del Trabajo (Mitrab) has announced that Monday, May 3, 2021, had been declared as a non-working public holiday for state workers in Nicaragua on account of the annual, "Día Internacional de los Trabajadores", public holiday of Nicaragua falling on a Saturday, in 2021.
The aforementioned Mitrab circular states that "By decision of the President of Nicaragua, Commander Daniel Ortega Saavedra and in recognition of the efforts of the workers, it is decreed on Monday, May 3 of this year, a holiday with pay for all State workers, in accordance with Article 66, second paragraph of the Labor Code".
Recall that under similar circumstances, Monday, May 2, 2016, had been declared as a public holiday in Nicaragua, due to the annual May 1st public holiday of Nicaragua falling on a Sunday. However, in 2016, this additional public holiday was not limited to the public sector (2016-04-26).
