Niger's Ministre en charge de l’emploi has declared Monday, October 18, 2021, as a nationwide public holiday in Niger, on account of the upcoming Mouloud or Prophet's birthday ("la journée du lundi 18 Octobre 2021, correspondant au lendemain » du Mouloud chômée et payée sur toute l’étendue du territoire national").

As on previous occasions (2021-08-09, 2020-08-20, 2018-06-13, 2018-06-09, 2017-06-21, 2017-04-14, 2016-09-08, 2015-09-23 and 2015-07-16), the declaration refers specifically to the "Loi n° 97-20 du 20 juin 1997 instituant les fêtes légales" (1997-06-23) is also in line with the subsequent "Loi n°98-05 du 29 avril 1998 instituant les fêtes légales" (1998-04-29).

That law was amended by the "Loi n°2006-08 du 02 mai 2006" (2006-05-09), and led to last winter's announcement by the Government of Niger (2021-01-19) specifying the non-working public holidays in Niger for the calendar year 2021, for both the private and public sectors.
