The Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Department of the Government of India's state of Odisha has announced the annual list of the days which will be non-working public holidays in India's state of Odisha for the upcoming calendar year 2022.
The aforementioned notification ("The Government of Odisha have been pleased to declare that the State Government Offices as well as the Revenue and Magisterial Courts (Executive) will remain closed on the festive/commemorative occasion, listed at Annexure-1 during the Calendar Year 2022, Saka-Era 1943-44.") is contained in a Government Notification, as per custom (2020-10-22, 2019-10-23, 2018-11-12, 2017-11-15 and 2016-10-31).
For the calendar year 2022, the ROM-Reg-REGN- 0072-2021-34561, dated November 17, 2021, was once again signed by the Secretary to Government, Usharani Sahoo, by order of the Governor.
The list of 2022 Odisha public holidays contains 36 government holidays and 9 optional holidays ("*The State Government employees may avail one optional holiday on any of the festive occasion / commemorative days listed above.").
Seven holidays of the 2022 Odisha public holidays falling on a Sunday, or on the public sector's day off on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month ("List of festivals / commemorative days (which are generally declared as holidays for the State Government offices) fall on Sundays during the Calendar Year 2022, Saka Era 1943-44").
Notable novelties in the 2022 list of public holidays in Odisha are the declaration of the birthday of Pandit Raghunath Murmu, which falls on Baisakha Purnima, as well as the promotion of the birthday of Pandit Raghunath Murmu from an optional holiday to a general public holiday.
