The Ministry of Science and Technology of Pakistan has announced the date for the beginning of the upcoming month of Ramazan, as Wednesday, April 14, 2021, commenting on Twitter that "The moon of Ramazan, 1442 AH will be sighted on the evening of April 13, 2021 and the first Ramazan will by on the 14th April, 2021 (InshaAllah). The moon will be clearly sighted in Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar and Karachi".

Recall that, a couple of years ago (2019-05-19), Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry, had announced that a new 5-year lunar calendar would allow for a longer-term forecast of annual non-working public holidays in Pakistan (2020-12-10, 2019-12-06, 2019-01-09, 2018-01-27, 2016-12-25, 2016-02-01, 2015-01-12, 2014-01-09, 2013-04-02, 2012-01-15).

Note, however, that the first day of Ramadan is not a public holiday in Pakistan, and is only observed as a bank holiday (2020-04-24 and 2017-05-26).
