Solomon Islands Maintains July 7 Public Holiday Once Again

Source: Solomon Times (Honiara)
Posted: Tuesday, July 6, 2021

Earlier today, the Solomon Islands ministry of home affairs announced the cancellation, for a second consecutive year, of the commemoration of Independence Day, on July 7, 2021.

Recall that, last year (2020-06-09), the Solomon Islands cabinet had similarly approved the cancellation of the commemoration of the Queen's Birthday on June 12, and Independence Day, on July 7, 2020 ("the public celebrations usually hosted by the Government House and the Government to commemorate these two events on both days are canceled").

As was the case in 2020, the Solomon Islands Government has stated that July 7, 2021, would remain a public holiday, leaving unamended the list of 2021 public holidays in the Solomon Islands, as released by the government of the Solomon islands, late last year (2020-12-28).
