In her first public address as president, the former Vice President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, has announced that Monday, March 22, 2021, and Thursday, March 25, 2021, would be public holidays in Tanzania, to mourn the death of President John Magufuli, and then on the day of President Magufuli's funeral.

The 2 aforementioned public holidays declared by President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Monday, March 22, 2021, and Thursday, March 25, 2021, are in addition to the list of official non-working public holidays dates in Tanzania for the calendar year 2021, released late last year (2020-12-19).
