The State Government of India's state of West Bengal has issued the Government Order No. FS-10/2021 which declares an annual public holiday for the birthday of Pandit Raghunath Murmu, and further amends the list of 2021 public holidays in West Bengal published in the Department Notification No. 3100 -F(P2), last autumn.

The aforementioned Government Order No. FS-10/2021 states that "The State Government has decided to observe public holiday every year on the occasion of the birthday of Pandit Raghunath Murmu, which falls on the day of Buddha Pumima".

This amendment to the list of 2021 public holidays in West Bengal will be symbolic as the Government Order No. FS-10/2021 goes on to specify that "The State Government vide Memorandum No.3100-F (P2) dated 5th November, 2020 has declared 26th May, 2021 (Wednesday) as a Holiday on the occasion of Buddha Purnima. Therefore, this year the Birthday of Pandit Raghunath Murmu will also be observed and celebrated on Wednesday, 26th May 2021.".

The initial list of 2021 public holidays in West Bengal was released, last autumn, by the government of India's state of West Bengal, in the Department Notification No. 3100 -F(P2), signed by order of the Governor, by D. K. Mahapatra, OSD and E.O. Special Secretary to the Government of West Bengal (2020-11-06).

That initial list of 2021 public holidays in West Bengal was then amended, last month (2020-12-01), by the Government Order No. 3361- F(P2) which added two holidays to the list of 2021 public holidays in West Bengal; a one-off public holiday on November 15, 2021, for the Birthday of Birsa Munda, and a new annual public holiday for the Birthday of Thakur Panchanan Barma (with no effect in 2021 as it falls on a Sunday).
