The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the government of Afghanistan has declared Thursday, April 28, 2022, which corresponds to Sowr 8 in the Afghan calendar, as a non-working public holiday in Afghanistan on account of the upcoming anniversary of the victory of Afghan Jihad against Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.
The aforementioned April 28 Afghan public holiday is in line with the 2002 declaration by the interim administration of Afghanistan's cabinet secretariat (2002-04-25) of a new official annual public holiday throughout Afghanistan, to mark the anniversary of the entry of the Mojahedin to Kabul. As per the decision No 20 dated April 1st, 2002 (Hamal 12, 1381), this public holidays corresponds to the 8th day of the month of Sowr, 1381, as per the Afghan Calendar, which had been restored earlier that same year (2002-02-07).
