Alberta 2022 Public Holidays Announced

The Government of Canada's Province of Alberta has released its list of statutory public holidays for the calendar year 2022 (days when employees are entitled to general holiday pay if they have worked for the same employer for at least 30 workdays in the 12 months prior to the holiday).

In addition to the aforementioned list of statutory public holidays for the calendar year 2022, Alberta also observes three optional general holidays: Easter Monday, Heritage Day, and Boxing Day. Optional general holidays are decided at the discretion of employers.

Alberta has not declared the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as a provincial statutory holiday (2021-10-31, 2021-09-16, 2021-09-08, 2021-06-19, and 2020-09-30). However, some cities and towns in Alberta like Calgary and Edmonton observe September 30 as a statutory holiday for their employees, as does the federal government.
