The Communications Officer of the Deputy Governor's Office at the Government of the Virgin Islands, Temulji Hughes, has released a revised list of 2022 public holidays in the British Virgin Islands.

The aforementioned revised list of 2022 public holidays confirms last month's declaration by the Cabinet of the Government of the Virgin Islands of Friday, June 3, 2022, as a one-off public holiday to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, thus amending last autumn's annual list of, and dates of, official non-working public holidays for 2022 in the British Virgin Islands (2021-12-07).

Late in 2020 (2020-11-12), the UK's culture secretary, Oliver Dowden, announced that an extra Platinum Jubilee public holiday would be declared on Friday, June 3, 2022, to mark Queen Elizabeth's 70th anniversary on the throne, and since then, a few Commonwealth states and Crown Posessions have joined the UK in declaring a 3-day or 4-day Platinum Jubilee period of public holidays (2022-01-17, 2021-12-28, 2021-12-22, 2021-11-30, 2021-11-05, 2021-10-29, 2021-10-21, 2021-08-28, 2021-08-06 and 2021-07-05).

A decade ago, the Deputy Governor's Office of the British Virgin Islands had similarly proclaimed Monday, June 4, 2012, as a non-working public holiday throughout the Territory of the British Virgin Islands to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and to celebrate the 86th anniversary of the birth of Her Majesty the Queen. (2012-05-16).
