The President of the Senate of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Modeste Bahati Lukwebo, has informed the plenary assembly that only a few formalities remained before the signing into law of a new April 6 annual public holiday marking the founding of Simon Kimbangu's Kimanguiste church.

Recall that, a year ago, the President of the DRC, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, had announced that he would ask both chamber of parliament to enact legislation to make April 6 a new annual public holiday in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to commemorate the founding of Simon Kimbangu's Kimanguiste church (2021-04-06).

But that April 6 public holiday was not listed with the other 2022 DRC public holidays (2022-01-04).

Then, late last week, the directeur de cabinet adjoint du Président de la République, André Wameso, issued a communique reassuring the population on the intention of the President's intention to declare April 6 as a new annual public holiday honoring Simon Kimbangu (2022-04-08).
