The directeur de cabinet adjoint du Président de la République of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, André Wameso, has issued a communique reassuring the population on the intention of the President's intention to declare April 6 as a new annual public holiday honoring Simon Kimbangu ("consacrer la date du 06 avril, jour férié, chômé et payé sur toute l’étendue du territoire national, en mémoire du prophète Simon Kimbangu").

Recall that, a year ago, the President of the DRC, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, had announced that he would ask both chamber of parliament to enact legislation to make April 6 a new annual public holiday in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to commemorate the founding of Simon Kimbangu's Kimanguiste church (2021-04-06).

But that April 6 public holiday was not listed with the other 2022 DRC public holidays (2022-01-04).
