A statement signed by Ghana's Minister-designate for the Interior, Ambrose Dery, announces that Ghana's President has declared Monday, March 7, 2022, as an additional public holiday in Ghana, due to the annual March 6, Independence Day public holiday falling on a weekend in 2022.

The aforementioned announcement states that "in view of the fact that 6th March, 2022 falls on a Sunday, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has by Executive Instrument (E.L), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, (Act 601) declared Monday, 7th March, 2022 as an additional Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country".

The observance of a public holiday on Monday, March 7, 2022, is in line with the list of 2022 public holidays in Ghana, as announced in the "Statutory Public Holidays And Commemorative Days In The Republic Of Ghana For The Year 2022", released earlier this year (2022-01-11).
