The office of the Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has announced that the date of the upcoming Eid al-Fitr (End of Ramadan) public holiday would be Tuesday, May 3, 2022.

The aforementioned announcement ("the crescent moon has not been sighted so the first of the month of Shawwal, will fall on Tuesday") was corroborated by the office of Iraq’s top Shia authority, Ayatollah Ali Sistani, who stated that "Monday is not Eid al-Fitr".

The observance of the End of Ramadan public holiday on May 3rd, is in line with the previously-released lists of official public holidays in Iran for the calendar year 2022 (2021-06-13).
