Jordanian Prime Minister, Bisher Al-Khasawneh, has announced that Tuesday, March 22, 2022, had been declared as a one-off public holiday in Jordan, "on the occasion of holding the provincial council elections, municipal councils, and the Amman Municipality Council".

Today's announcement of Tuesday, March 22, 2022, as an electoral public holiday in Jordan, thus further amends (2022-01-26) the list of religious and national non-working public holidays and bank holidays in Jordan for the calendar year 2022, as released last autumn (2021-11-08).

As per the aforementioned circular, "ministries, official departments, institutions, public bodies, official universities, municipalities, joint services councils, the Greater Amman Municipality, and companies owned entirely by the government, will suspend their working hours on Tuesday, March 22".

Electoral public holidays have been declared on a reasonably regular basis in the past (2020-11-02, 2017-08-13, 2016-09-08, 2016-07-20, ...).
