The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan has announced that it had not yet come to a decision regarding the extension of the 2022 public holidays in May 2022, as well as the revision of the non-working status of the currently observed Defender of the Fatherland Day, Day of the April Revolution, and the 2 Days of History and Memory of Ancestors.

Recall that, late last year, the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan approved the declaration of 4 bridge public holidays in January 2022 to create a period of continuous public holidays in Kyrgyzstan from January 1 to January 9, 2022 (2021-12-25 and 2021-11-22).

At the same cabinet meeting, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration also proposed to declare the period from May 1 to May 9, 2022, as non-working public holidays, as well as amendments to the status of the following annual public holidays; Defender of the Fatherland Day on February 23 (День защитника отечества), Day of the April Revolution on April 7 (День апрельской революции), and Days of History and Memory of Ancestors on November 7 and 8 (Дни истории и памяти предков).

As per the head of the Cabinet of Ministers, Akylbek Japarov, the decision to extend the May 2022 Kyrgyz public holidays, and a revision of the status of the 3 aforementioned public holidays, would occur during the first trimester of 2022.

Note that the additional Kyrgyz public holidays on January 4-5-6, 2022, are compensated by the declaration of 3 Saturdays, January 15, February 26, and March 26, 2022, as regular working days in Kyrgyzstan, as was done in past years (2020-12-04 and 2019-12-16).
