The Labor, Health and Social Development Commission of the Panamanian National Assembly, chaired by deputy Daniel Ramos, has endorsed Bill 210, which would transfer the Carnival Tuesday public holiday to the previous Monday, February 28, but only in 2022.
The aforementioned bill was prompted by the cancellation of the 2022 Carnival in Panama, as recently-announced by the Government of Panama.
Last year (2021-01-30), the 2021 Carnival was also canceled and the Panamanian Ministry of Health announced that the only public holiday will be Tuesday, February 16, 2021, with Carnival Monday and Ash Wednesday being normal working days in 2021 ("el lunes 15 será un día normal de trabajo y y el miércoles 17 de Cenizas será un día con jornada laboral regular").
