The government of Timor Leste has issued an announcement of the declaration of a public sector holiday, on February 1st, 2022, on account of Chinese New Year ("Day Off on the February 1st 2022 on the occasion of the Chinese New Year's Day celebrations").

In its statement, the Secretariat of State of the Council of Ministers of Timor Leste, states that the aforementioned decision ("The Government decided to grant a Day Off on the February 1st, on the occasion of the Chinese New Year's Day celebrations") is based on law No.10/2005, which overhauled Timor Leste's public holidays (2020-02-19) and that it applies to "to all officials and agents of the ministries or of their dependent services, as well as of the institutes and integrated indirect State Administration bodies", as usual (2020-12-22, 2020-10-29, 2020-08-28, 2020-04-08, 2020-03-16 and 2012-04-04).

The announcement "Tolerância de Ponto no dia 1 de fevereiro de 2022 por ocasião do Ano Novo Chinês" follows the frequent, though not systematic, declaration of a one-off public sector holiday for Chinese New Year (2021-02-11, 2019-02-03, 2018-03-24, 2015-05-11 and 2012-01-20).
