Master Pages in QuarkXPress

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Master pages are a convenient way of specifying elements that are the same on many pages and, most importantly, being able to modify them all at once in the output file (for example moving a textbox by 1mm, after a diary has been generated and proof-read).

If you use master pages in your GridTemplates :

In Q++Studio, make sure that you set the Master Pages property of your scripts to Re-Build Master Pages. (you can set a default value for this in the Execution Preferences).

Do not place any token inside textboxes that are located in master pages. QuarkXPress gets very confused when scanning objects that are on master pages and therefore cannot find them at run-time (ie. when generating a diary).

Note that the use of complex Mater Pages will tend to slow down diary generation.
