Specific comments on events of the Muslim calendar

By default, the Muslim calendar events listed above were evaluated using the Umm al-Qura Calendar of Saudi Arabia which is used in Saudi Arabia and in most of the Arabian Peninsula. The sunrises, sunsets, moon phases, moonrises and moonsets used in these calculations are based on the location of Mecca (latitude 21.42°N, Longitude, 39.82°E, GMT+3 hours, no summer time rules). For more details on the calculation of Muslim calendar dates and events see: link.

Events may occur one day later in countries outside the Arabian Peninsula. In those countries, the Muslim calendar is usually determined by human observations, using the naked eye. These observations are extremely hard to predict mathematically, but we present the probable alternate date for each event, whenever there is a good chance that the Muslim calendar outside of the Arabian Peninsula differs from the Umm al-Qura Calendar of Saudi Arabia (this usually happens if the New Moon was less than 20 hours old when it set below the horizon on the 29th day of the preceding Muslim month).

For Salat (prayer times) calculations, see our freeware page at see link.
